Xbox Gets Customization Boost with Microsoft’s New Home Screen Tests

Microsoft is rolling out a set of new customization options for the Xbox Home screen, designed to give users greater control over their dashboard experience. The updates are currently being tested with Xbox Insiders and aim to make the Home screen more personalized, streamlined, and user-friendly.

One of the key features allows players to hide system apps from the “recently played” list, helping reduce clutter and keep the focus on games and entertainment.

Another new option lets users pin up to three favorite games or apps directly to the recently played section, ensuring quick access even after launching other titles.

Additionally, Microsoft is working on a “Reduce Tile Count” mode that will display fewer tiles for a cleaner, more minimal look — though this feature is still in development and not yet available to testers.

The company stated that these updates come in direct response to user feedback, emphasizing the need for a Home screen that feels more like a personal space.

These changes are now available to test in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha Insider rings , and Microsoft is actively seeking user feedback before wider release. Interested users can join the preview via the Xbox Insider app.
