Windows 11 Update Brings Stability for Gamers Facing System Crashes
Microsoft has released an out-of-band update for Windows 11 version 24H2. While the company rolled out its regular monthly cumulative updates on June 10, 2025 — including patches for Windows 10 — some Windows 11 users were unable to receive the update due to compatibility problems with certain games.
To resolve this issue, Microsoft is now deploying KB5063060 (build 26100.4351) specifically for Windows 11 24H2 users who play games using Easy Anti-Cheat , a security service designed to prevent cheating in online multiplayer titles.
According to Microsoft’s release notes, the June 2025 update for Windows 11 caused unexpected system restarts when launching games that rely on Easy Anti-Cheat. The new patch aims to fix that problem and restore stability for affected users.
“This update addresses an incompatibility where Windows may unexpectedly restart when launching games that use the Easy Anti-Cheat service.”
While the issue might sound serious, it likely impacted only a limited number of users. Previously, those with games using Easy Anti-Cheat weren’t able to install KB5060842 , the main security update for June 2025. Now, thanks to KB5063060, they can safely receive all the latest updates and security fixes. This patch is cumulative, meaning it includes all previous updates released up to this point.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first compatibility challenge between Windows 11 24H2 and Easy Anti-Cheat. Another known issue affects PCs equipped with Intel Alder Lake+ and vPro processors , which may crash when launching games using this anti-cheat system. Microsoft recommends updating such games to newer versions that include updated Easy Anti-Cheat implementations as a temporary workaround.
The KB5060842 update is currently being distributed through Windows Update , and it’s also available for manual download via the Microsoft Update Catalog here .
