TikTok Broadens Music Integration with Support for Another Streaming Service
TikTok has long been a powerhouse for music discovery. Hits like “abcdefu” by Gayle and “First Class” by Jack Harlow first gained traction on the platform before going mainstream. To make it easier for users to save and stream trending tracks, TikTok launched the “Add to Music App” feature in November last year.
Initially, the feature allowed users to send songs directly to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music. Now, TikTok is expanding support to include SoundCloud , as announced in a recent blog post from the streaming service.
With this update, TikTok users can now add songs directly to SoundCloud, where they’ll be saved to their default playlist. Once a user selects a music app — including SoundCloud — that becomes the default for future saves, unless changed manually through TikTok’s Settings & Privacy menu.
The feature has proven wildly popular since its launch, with over a billion tracks saved so far. According to SoundCloud, all supported platforms have seen a surge in streams thanks to this integration.
In addition to teaming up with TikTok, SoundCloud has also introduced a new tool called Move Your Music , which lets users transfer playlists and liked tracks from other services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, TIDAL, Deezer, and Amazon Music.
