In addition to producing smartwatches, Samsung also offers a range of wearable devices, including the Galaxy Ring — a smart ring you can wear on any finger to monitor your health and fitness. But it looks like the company isn’t stopping there. Recently, Samsung confirmed that it’s actively exploring new categories of wearable technology.

During an interview with CNN, Woo-joon Choi, the COO of Samsung’s mobile experience division, revealed that the company is considering products like smart earrings and intelligent necklaces as part of its future lineup. This move reflects Samsung’s broader strategy to integrate AI into everyday accessories, creating more seamless and intuitive ways for users to interact with technology — without needing to constantly reach for their smartphones.
Choi explained:
“We believe the next generation of tech should be something you wear, not carry. It shouldn’t require you to hold it or pull it out every time. That could be glasses, rings, watches, necklaces — even earrings.”
The Rise of AI-Powered Wearables
This idea aligns with the growing trend of embedding advanced AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, into personal gadgets. These systems are already capable of handling complex tasks and conversations, making them ideal for hands-free, voice-driven experiences. As a result, many tech companies are now investing heavily in wearables that allow users to engage with AI naturally — without touching a screen.
Samsung’s Mixed Reality Ambitions
Samsung has already been working on its mixed reality headset, codenamed “Project Moohan,” which is expected to launch in September. The company is also reportedly developing smart XR glasses to expand its presence in the wearable space.

When asked directly whether Samsung is working on smart jewelry like earrings or necklaces, Choi responded by saying the company is “looking at all kinds of possibilities” and added, “What do people wear? Glasses, earrings, necklaces, watches, rings — things like that.”
It’s important to note, however, that these ideas are still in the exploratory phase and may not necessarily lead to actual products. Like many big tech firms, Samsung often tests various concepts before deciding which ones to bring to market.
