Samsung Accelerates Plans for Its Upcoming Tri-Folding Phone

It was widely expected that Samsung would unveil its first triple-folding smartphone , rumored to be called the Galaxy G Fold , alongside the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 during the company’s latest Unpacked event. However, that didn’t happen — leading many to believe the rumored 2026 release date might still be accurate.

But recent reports suggest that timeline could be changing.

🔁 Design Differences: G-Fold vs. S-Fold

Unlike the Huawei Mate XT , which was the world’s first tri-folding phone using an S-style folding mechanism , the Galaxy G Fold is expected to adopt a G-style fold — a different design approach that could offer a more compact and practical form factor.

Rumors suggest the device will feature a 10-inch internal display and possibly skip the under-display camera , focusing instead on a cleaner screen experience.

💡 Design Hints in One UI 8 Beta

Interestingly, early design clues about the Galaxy G Fold appeared in a recent One UI 8 beta build , giving fans a sneak peek into how the triple-screen foldable might function. The design looks similar to the new Galaxy Z Fold7 , but with an extra fold , offering a unique multi-screen experience.

📆 New Leak Suggests Earlier Launch

Now, according to a new report from IceUniverse , a well-known and reliable leaker on Weibo, the Galaxy G Fold may arrive much earlier than 2026 — possibly as soon as October 2025 .

This would put Samsung in direct competition with Huawei, which is reportedly planning to release the second generation of its tri-folding phone in September , just ahead of Samsung. While no official dates have been confirmed yet, Huawei’s early move could be a strategic attempt to steal some of the spotlight from Samsung’s upcoming foldable.

🧠 Expected Specifications

While details are still limited, here’s what we expect the Galaxy G Fold to offer:

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for top-tier performance
  • 200MP main camera for high-quality photos
  • A titanium backplate , which could help reduce the phone’s thickness while improving its durability and build quality

These upgrades would position the Galaxy G Fold as a premium and innovative addition to Samsung’s foldable lineup.
