MSI Makes a Strong Comeback in Air Cooling with 240W Core Frozr CPU Cooler
Tech enthusiast momomo_us recently discovered that MSI has silently launched a new CPU air cooler called the MAG Core Frozr AA13. This release, offered in both black and white color options, represents MSI’s return to the CPU air cooling segment after almost ten years away from this market.
MSI’s Limited History with CPU Coolers
While MSI is well-known for various computer components and gaming products, CPU cooling solutions have never been a major focus for the company. During the 2016-2019 period, MSI did introduce a small collection of coolers under the Core Frozr brand. The original lineup was modest, featuring just three models: the Core Frozr S, Core Frozr L, and Core Frozr XL.
Brand Restructuring Under MSI Arsenal Gaming
MSI has given the Core Frozr line a fresh identity update. The latest Core Frozr series now falls under the MSI Arsenal Gaming (MAG) umbrella, which targets mid-range products designed for gaming enthusiasts and hobbyists.
Compact Design with Impressive Cooling Capacity
The MAG Core Frozr AA13 features dimensions of 5.98 x 4.76 x 3.72 inches (152 x 121 x 94.5 mm), making it a space-efficient single-tower air cooler that should fit comfortably in most standard mid-tower PC cases. The unit utilizes four 6mm direct-contact copper heat pipes to effectively channel heat away from both Intel and AMD processors to its 50-fin radiator assembly.
Balanced Performance and Acoustics
Cooling performance comes from a single 120mm fan that, according to MSI specifications, generates static pressure of 2.36 mmH2O while moving up to 62.6 CFM of air. The rifle-bearing fan operates at a relatively quiet 30.11 dBA under normal conditions, though noise levels can reach 34.1 dBA at maximum RPM. Customization options include standard RGB lighting, requiring a 5V ARGB 3-pin motherboard header for connection.
High TDP Support and Broad Compatibility
MSI states that the MAG Core Frozr AA13 can handle processors with thermal design power up to 240W, based on internal testing using the Core i9-14900K as a reference. The cooler includes mounting hardware for current socket types, supporting Intel’s LGA1700 and LGA1851 platforms along with AMD’s AM4 and AM5 sockets.
Availability and Pricing
Currently, MSI has not disclosed pricing details or expected release dates for the MAG Core Frozr AA13 CPU cooler.
