Microsoft Releases Two Major Windows 11 Updates in June 2025 Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has released its latest Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 versions 24H2, 23H2, and 22H2 . The updates are delivered through two main patches: KB5060842 for version 24H2 , and KB5060999 for both 23H2 and 22H2 .

After installing these updates, your system will be on the following builds:

  • 24H2 : Build 26100.4349
  • 23H2 : Build 22631.5472
  • 22H2 : Build 22621.5472

These updates include a range of security fixes, performance improvements, and minor feature enhancements.

✅ Key Highlights

This release focuses on improving system security and stability across supported versions of Windows 11. It also includes several bug fixes that were originally part of KB5058499 , released earlier this month on May 28, 2025 .

🔧 What’s New & Improved

[System Restore]

One notable change is how long Windows keeps system restore points . After installing the June 2025 update, systems running Windows 11 24H2 will now retain restore points for up to 60 days (previously limited to about 7–10 days). Older restore points beyond this period will no longer be available. This new 60-day limit will also apply to future releases of Windows 11 24H2.

To use a restore point, simply go to Create a restore point > Open System Restore .

[Windows Hello]

A fix has been introduced to resolve an issue where some users were unable to sign in using self-signed certificates with Windows Hello for Business when using the Key Trust model .

⚠️ Known Issues

Noto Fonts Display Problem

Some users have reported blurry or unclear CJK text (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) at 96 DPI (100% scaling) in browsers like Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome .

This issue stems from the introduction of Noto fonts starting with the March 2025 Preview Update , which were added as fallback fonts for better rendering of websites and apps that don’t specify proper fonts. However, at lower screen densities like 96 DPI, character clarity and alignment can suffer.

Workaround:

You can temporarily improve text clarity by increasing display scaling to 125% or 150% .

📦 How to Download the Updates

The updates are being rolled out automatically via Windows Update . If you prefer a manual install, you can download them directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog :

🆕 Hotpatch for Enterprise Users

In addition, Microsoft has released KB5060841 (build 26100.4270 ) specifically for enterprise users running Windows 11 24H2 . This hotpatch brings the same changes related to system restore point retention mentioned above.

As always, it’s recommended to install these updates as soon as possible to ensure your system remains secure and runs smoothly.
