Microsoft Launches Copilot for Gaming Beta to Aid Players in Tough Moments
Back in March, Microsoft introduced a new addition to its Copilot AI lineup: Copilot for Gaming , described at the time as the “ultimate gaming sidekick” designed to assist players when they get stuck. Now, the company has officially launched the beta — starting with mobile devices.
The feature is accessible through the Xbox app for mobile , available to users in the beta channel. Once activated, players can pull up Copilot and ask questions related to the game they’re currently playing. Thanks to deep integration with Xbox, the AI automatically detects the active game and pulls relevant information from the web to provide accurate, context-aware answers.
Microsoft says it’s continuing to develop the experience, with plans to introduce more advanced features like personalized tips , proactive coaching , and deeper gameplay support in future updates.
What Can You Ask Copilot for Gaming?
During its current beta phase, users can ask Copilot for help with a variety of in-game queries, including:
- Tips for beating tough bosses
- Crafting guides
- Achievement details
- Game recommendations based on preferences
- Account-related info like gamerscore or Game Pass subscriptions
Here are some examples of how players can interact with the AI:
“Hey Copilot, can you remind me what materials I need to craft a sword in Minecraft?”
“I’m stuck on Rougarou in South by Midnight. Any tips for defeating this boss?”
“What’s my gamerscore, and how can I improve it?”
“Hey Copilot, what should I play tonight?”
“I love horror movies. Are there any games you’d recommend?”
“Can you suggest a new RPG released on Xbox recently?”
“What’s the rarest achievement in Avowed?”
“When does my Game Pass subscription renew?”
For now, Copilot for Gaming is rolling out gradually to beta testers via mobile, marking the first step toward what could become a powerful companion for gamers across platforms.
