Meta* expects its generative AI products to generate between $2 billion and $3 billion in revenue in 2025 and between $460 billion and $1.4 trillion by 2035, according to court documents released in a lawsuit filed by writers accusing Meta* of using their work to train AI without permission.

Generative AI is a technology that creates text, images, or other data, such as chatbots or content processing tools. Meta* makes money from these products through revenue-sharing agreements with companies that use its open-source Llama* models. The company has also launched an API for customizing these models and plans to monetize its Meta AI* AI assistant through advertising and subscriptions, Mark Zuckerberg said on the Q1 earnings call.

Meta*, by the way, is actively investing in AI infrastructure, planning to spend $60–80 billion on data centers in 2025.
