Live Seconds, Better Menus: Windows 11 Is Getting These Small But Useful Upgrades

Microsoft is wrapping up the week by releasing two new preview builds for Windows Insiders: build 26200.5651 for the Dev Channel , and build 26120.4441 for the Beta Channel . These updates bring a range of enhancements, including improvements to context menus, calendar clock settings, Recall features, Settings app functionality, and more.

💡 What’s New in This Update?

🧩 Copilot+ PCs: A Smarter Way to Use Settings

For users with Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs (Intel and AMD support coming soon), there’s a new AI-powered assistant now available inside the Settings app . Simply type what you’d like to change — for example, “my mouse pointer is too small” — and the agent will guide you through the right settings or adjust them automatically.
📌 Note: This feature is currently exclusive to the Dev build.

🔐 Recall Gets Enhanced Security for EEA Users

In the European Economic Area , Recall now asks users to save a unique code during setup. This code is necessary if you want to export snapshots for use with third-party apps or websites. It only appears once, so be sure to store it securely.
⚠️ Important: Installing today’s update will reset Recall along with all saved snapshots.

Other Recall improvements (available globally where Recall is supported) include:

  • Ability to fully reset Recall and its data
  • Default maximum storage duration changed from unlimited to 90 days
  • In-app tips to help users discover and understand Recall features

🖱️ Click to Do Adds New Productivity Tools

Microsoft has expanded the capabilities of Click to Do , allowing users to send selected text or images directly to Microsoft 365 Copilot . The feature also supports actions on email addresses, such as scheduling meetings or sending messages via Teams .

⏱️ Calendar Clock Now Shows Seconds (Customizable!)

One of the most requested features from Windows 10 has finally arrived in Windows 11: seconds display in the calendar clock . When hovering over the clock in the taskbar, users can now see live seconds — and unlike Windows 10, this option is toggleable in Date & Time settings.

📁 Other UI and Performance Enhancements

  • Context menus now include visual dividers between common file actions
• File sharing options have been expanded — when using OneDrive, Windows may suggest Nearby Sharing or third-party apps
  • Activation and expiration dialogs have been refreshed with modern visuals

🛠️ Bug Fixes Included in the Update

Here are some notable fixes rolling out gradually:

  • Recall (Preview): Fixed crashes affecting some users in recent builds
  • File Explorer: Improved tab focus behavior and memory leaks during folder navigation; archive extraction performance has also improved
  • Start menu: Fixed incorrect layout direction for Arabic/Hebrew languages and fixed issues with pinning/moving apps
  • Settings: Resolved language display issues that caused some entries to show in English
  • General UI: Fixed font corruption issues in some menus and resolved input problems in Word for Hebrew and Thai typing

⚠️ Known Issues to Be Aware Of

  • After resetting your PC, the build number might incorrectly show as 26100 instead of 26120
  • Resetting your PC via Recovery may not work in this build
  • Some users may experience installation errors (error code 0x80070005)
  • Touch navigation in the Start menu isn’t fully reliable yet
  • Xbox controllers connected via Bluetooth may cause system crashes (workaround provided)
