iPhone 17 Air rumored battery specs leave much to be desired

Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Air is expected to be its thinnest smartphone yet, potentially replacing the Plus models in this year’s lineup. While its sleek profile and lightweight design (5.5mm thickness, ~145g) are appealing, early reports suggest a major compromise: battery capacity.

According to a Korean source, the iPhone 17 Air may come with a 2,800 mAh battery — a significant drop from the iPhone 16’s 3,561 mAh, and among the lowest since the iPhone X. This puts it at a disadvantage against rivals like the Galaxy S25 Edge, which packs a 3,900 mAh battery.

The slim form factor reportedly leaves little room for a larger battery, raising concerns about real-world performance. Some rumors hint that Apple might use a more energy-dense battery or AI-based optimizations to extend usage time, though such claims remain unverified.
