Huawei and Chery have unveiled the new Luxeed R7

Chinese tech giant Huawei and automaker Chery have introduced the newest model in their Luxeed electric vehicle lineup: the R7. Available in Max and Ultra trims, the R7 is part of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) and aims to offer consumers an extended driving range for a superior travel experience.

The Luxeed R7 features a sleek, aerodynamic design with dimensions of 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height. Its drag coefficient of just 0.247Cd enhances efficiency, while an optional package adds a rear diffuser and wing for those seeking a more sporty aesthetic.

Beneath its stylish exterior, the Luxeed R7 is built on Huawei’s Tuling platform, which incorporates a front double wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension system. The vehicle also features continuous variable damping as standard, ensuring an optimal balance of ride comfort and handling performance.

A standout innovation is Huawei’s new “intelligent silent” EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) technology. This system integrates a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that functions as a range extender, significantly reducing vibrations during start-stop operations by a claimed 90%. Both trims come equipped with a 67-liter fuel tank to further enhance the vehicle’s extended driving range.

Both the Max and Ultra variants of the Luxeed R7 are equipped with a 53.4 kWh ternary lithium battery pack and leverage Huawei’s Giant Whale 400V platform, enabling rapid charging from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

The rear-wheel-drive Max trim delivers a CLTC-certified pure electric range of 360 km and a total CLTC range of 1,673 km. Its rear electric motor generates 227 kW (304 horsepower), allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive Ultra trim features Huawei DriveONE dual motors, including a 155-kW front motor and a 227-kW rear motor. This configuration results in a faster 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.9 seconds. The Ultra trim offers a slightly lower CLTC pure electric range of 331 km but still boasts an impressive total range of 1,551 km.

Inside the cabin, the Luxeed R7 offers a modern and intuitive experience powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4. The interior features a large 15.6-inch central control screen alongside a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel, ensuring both functionality and style. Standard across the R7 lineup are premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated, heated, and massaging seats. The front seats come with a “zero-gravity” option, offering 18-way electric adjustment, a 10-point massage system, and a 340-millimeter heated leg rest for unparalleled comfort.

In terms of pricing, the Luxeed R7 Max is available for RMB 299,800 (approximately €37,300), while the Ultra trim is priced at RMB 319,800 (around €39,800).
