Chrome OS M135 Arrives in Stable Channel

ChromeOS M135 Hits Stable Channel with Exciting Updates

ChromeOS M135 is now rolling out to the stable channel, bringing a host of new features and enhancements that build on previous updates. Whether you’re using a Chromebook or ChromeOS Flex, there’s plenty to look forward to in this latest release.

1. Android Bluetooth Stack (Fluoride) Comes to ChromeOS Flex

Starting with ChromeOS 122 , the Android Bluetooth stack—code-named Fluoride —began rolling out to regular ChromeOS devices. Now, it’s making its way to ChromeOS Flex , bringing improved Bluetooth functionality to older hardware.

Google promises a seamless transition, ensuring your already-paired Bluetooth devices remain connected without interruption. However, if you encounter issues, you can temporarily disable the feature using the following flag in Chrome settings:

chrome://flags/#bluetooth-use-floss

Simply toggle it off and restart your device if needed.

2. Enhanced Accessibility Features

Accessibility continues to be a focus in M135, with notable improvements to existing tools:

  • Face Control Enhancements : This feature, which allows users to interact with their Chromebook using facial movements, has been refined for better usability. A new “Face control active” message now appears prominently when the feature is enabled, complete with a clear button to turn it off. Additionally, you’ll receive a notification whenever Face Control is activated, ensuring you’re always aware when it’s in use.
  • Mouse Keys : Introduced in M134, Mouse Keys allows users to control their mouse pointer using the keyboard. This feature remains available in M135, providing an alternative navigation method for those who need it.

3. Fast Pair for Mice

The Fast Pair feature for mice, introduced in M134, is still part of the M135 update. If you own a Fast Pair-compatible mouse, simply bring it close to your Chromebook, and a prompt will appear asking if you’d like to connect it. With just one click, your device is paired and ready to go—no complicated setup required.

4. Image Content Search in the Launcher

One of the most exciting new additions in M135 is image content search . Instead of relying on filenames to find pictures, you can now search for images based on their actual content directly within the Launcher . For example, searching for “beach” will pull up photos of beaches, even if the filenames don’t include that word. This feature makes organizing and finding images easier and more intuitive.

Rollout and Feedback

As with most ChromeOS updates, M135 will be progressively rolled out over the coming days . If you encounter any issues while using the new features, Google encourages users to report them via their feedback portal . Your input helps improve future updates!

A Step Forward for ChromeOS

With M135 , Google continues to refine and expand the capabilities of ChromeOS, addressing user feedback and introducing innovative features. From enhanced accessibility tools to seamless Bluetooth integration and smarter search options, this update demonstrates Google’s commitment to making ChromeOS more versatile and user-friendly.

Stay tuned as these updates roll out, and enjoy exploring the new possibilities M135 brings to your Chromebook experience!
