Beat Saber Ends PlayStation VR Support — No New Content Coming to PS4 or PS5
One of the most iconic virtual reality titles, Beat Saber , is officially stepping away from the PlayStation VR ecosystem. Developer Beat Games , now under the Meta umbrella, has announced that while existing owners on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will still be able to play the game, no new content or updates will be released for the platform after June 2025.
In a recent post shared via their official channels, the studio explained the decision:
“As we plan the next chapter in Beat Saber’s journey, we’ve decided to stop rolling out updates for PlayStation 4 and 5 starting mid-2025. Our love for VR remains strong, and we’re thrilled about what’s ahead — especially for the fans who’ve supported us over the past seven years.”
Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra , which launched as a premium track on June 5, will mark the final piece of downloadable content available on both PlayStation VR and VR2 . From that point onward, no new songs or features will be added to the PlayStation versions of the game, though customer support will remain active for existing users.
🚫 Multiplayer Mode Also Getting Sunseted on PS Consoles
In addition to halting content updates, Beat Saber ’s multiplayer mode will also be discontinued on PlayStation systems. The feature is set to shut down permanently on January 21, 2026 , across both PS4 and PS5.
Despite these changes, players will still be able to enjoy all previously purchased content, including the base game, DLC tracks, and individual song purchases.
🛒 What About Purchases and Store Availability?
Good news for PlayStation fans: Beat Saber will remain available for purchase on the PlayStation Store , and the in-game shop will stay functional for those looking to buy older content. Additionally, the cross-buy feature between PS4 and PS5 will continue to work as usual.
The development team expressed gratitude for the long-term support from the PlayStation community, saying:
“We’re deeply thankful for the amazing support you’ve given us over the years, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next for Beat Saber.”
💻 Focus Shifting to PC and Meta Quest Platforms
For players on other platforms, there’s no cause for concern. Beat Games confirmed that both the Steam version and Meta Quest editions will continue receiving updates, new content, and full developer support moving forward.
