Apple Updates Logic Pro with New Flashback Capture Feature

Apple Updates Logic Pro with New Flashback Capture Feature

Apple has rolled out a new update for its professional music production app, Logic Pro , bringing enhancements to both Mac and iPad users. Among the latest additions is Flashback Capture , a tool designed to help musicians recover audio and MIDI performances they might have forgotten to record.

According to Apple, users can trigger Flashback Capture using a keyboard shortcut or a custom button in the control bar. It’s important to note, however, that audio recovery works only when Logic Pro is actively playing back a session.

This feature aims to give creators more flexibility and reduce the risk of losing spontaneous musical ideas during production.

Apple Enhances Stem Splitter in Logic Pro with Better Audio Separation

In addition to the new Flashback Capture feature, Apple has improved the Stem Splitter tool in Logic Pro , offering users higher audio fidelity and expanded capabilities. The updated tool now supports additional stems, including guitar and piano, and can extract more detail from older recordings and demos.

Stem Splitter allows musicians to isolate and separate individual elements of an audio track — such as vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments — for independent editing and processing. It’s especially useful for remixing, sampling, or repurposing existing tracks.

The update also introduces a new submix feature , making it easier to export specific parts of a mix. For example, users can remove vocals to create an instrumental version, or strip out drums and bass to craft a unique arrangement.

Notably, Stem Splitter requires a device equipped with an M1 chip or later, on either iPad or Mac.

Apple Adds New Sound Packs and Features to Updated Logic Pro

Apple has introduced a range of new sound packs for Logic Pro , now available across both Mac and iPad. Dancefloor Rush brings high-energy drum and bass sounds, featuring over 400 dynamic loops, powerful drum kits, and a custom Live Loops grid for electronic music creators.

For Mac users, two exclusive packs are now available: Magnetic Imperfections and Tosin Abasi . The first adds a unique analog vibe by capturing the raw, lo-fi charm of tape recordings, while the latter offers an advanced progressive metal guitar experience, complete with boutique amps, custom effects, and signature playing styles from guitarist Tosin Abasi.

In addition to the new audio content, Logic Pro now integrates Apple Intelligence Writing Tools into its built-in Notepad, helping users draft lyrics, write session notes, or plan arrangements directly within the app. A new search feature also makes it easier to navigate large projects by track name or number.

These updates are included in Logic Pro 11.2 for Mac and Logic Pro 2.2 for iPad , available as a free update for existing users. New customers can purchase the Mac version for $199, or subscribe to the iPad edition for $4.99 monthly or $49 annually.
